Kingsley College & the Big K Community Team

Kingsley is a Specialist Performing Arts College with a strong commitment to community arts development in the town.

As well as involving students in regular performance, the College works to deliver arts activities in partner schools, with partnership organisations and to adults in community venues through the Big K Community team.

The team also provides support, advice & resources to performing arts projects, and has an excellent community theatre, which runs as a professional venue, as well as being available for hire.

Indigo arts
Arts charity Indigo arts, are Kingsley’s community partners, and run regular weekly workshops at the College. Please see their section on this website for further details.
 
Dance, Drum & Sing – an African Experience!
 Put some rhythm back into your life, and join these fun sessions aimed at relieving stress, developing confidence & sharing with others, as well as learning hand drum skills & about African Dance & culture. Informal & friendly sessions led by Talking Drums reggae artist & musician Neville Brown, and Master Drummer, Dance & Song Teacher Wisdom Awudu Awudzie.

Redditch Battle of the Bands 2009
The Big K founded the annual Redditch Battle of the Bands competition, which has been running successfully since 2005. It is open to all bands where members are aged 25 or under on the day of the contest, and at least one member is from the Redditch area. The dates for this year’s contest are:

The K Factor
The Big K team are about to launch an exciting new singing competition.
Those chosen from the heats, will undergo training in vocal skills, mic technique, presentation & more, before they appear in the final, working with a live band & compete for the title of K Factor winner 2009.
