The world of Arts in Redditch

They say that all the world’s a stage. Well here’s picturing that! Look through the proscenium arch of an Edwardian chocolate box theatre, perhaps that of the Palace Theatre in Redditch, at the world of Arts in Redditch on a stage. Maybe you see it another way through the picture frame of local Redditch artist Zora Payne. Either way (or maybe you saw it entirely differently!) here we have a collage of mosaics come to life, cut and pasted paintings, dancers, as well as other weird and wonderful creative performers who stay in our memories, the Redditch skyline we have all come to know and love with the St Stephens Church spire and the Water Tower in the far distance. With illustration contributions by local visual artist Zora Payne, Paolozzi Mosaic cuttings (Go to Public Art for more), and various photographs from the past, here is our vision of the Arts in Redditch! img_8654 copy

To truly breathe life into the vision is the musical contribution of the marvellous local composer Malcolm Carlton and the young people of Redditch based Indigo Arts. Enjoy! Then when you’ve finished take a peek in shop window at “What’s On”, have a butchers in the old garden shed at those projects gathering dust from “What’s Happened in the Past”, or tread the floor boards down in the cellar at “What you can do to get involved”.

The life of this image started out as a 3D set design model by 3D Scenography artist Kevin Hunton from Spookshave Scenography. Those of you who have seen one it’s basically a miniaturised theatre stage, the first stages of the vision that a theatre director has before putting together a show for the stage. Local photographer Clive Moss took a snap of it and Clicking Mad made the finishing touches before you see what you see today.
